Colorado Allowing Cities to Ban Dispensaries Gets Challenged

The controversial HB 1284, the bill that regulates Colorado’s dispensary industry has a provision that allowed municipalities to ban dispensaries. Some cities in Colorado have done just that. Aurora and Broomfield Colorado are two cities where there is a ban on dispensaries, and there are others considering such a ban. Many activists have speculated that the ban provision in the bill would be challenged in court some day.

Washington DC Unveils its Plans for Medical Marijuana Regulations

Medical Marijuana has traveled a long road in Washington DC and the programs is finally going to begin on January 1st of next year, according to a draft by Mayor Adrian Fenty. The draft rules were announced on Friday and under the planned regulations, the City Health Department would be responsible for registering applicants.

The First Dispensary Grower Tried in Federal Court Headed Back to Prison

The first medical marijuana dispensary grower to be tried in federal court was sent back to prison on Monday by a federal judge. Bryan Epis, 42, was convicted in 2002 of growing 100 plants in 1997 and planning to grow 1000 more. He received a 10-year sentence based on mandatory minimums because his house was within 1,000 feet of a high school.
