A legal battle in Oregon over what constitutes “usable weed” has ended with a case dismissal. 24 year old Josh Brewer and a cousin rented a house in Medford, Oregon to grow medical marijuana. Brewer did not want his medical marijuana around his wife, or three young children. They built a 14 foot fence around the backyard and grew 12 plants, six for each of them according to the Oregon Medical Marijuana program rules. Brewer said that police from a regional drug task force came to his door one day and asked to see his medical marijuana garden. He let them in because he said he always remains within the law. There are two medical marijuana proposals that are headed for Ohio’s November ballot this year. The Ohio Medical Cannabis Amendment of 2012 was approved on Wednesday by the Ohio Ballot Board. Now the group behind that effort can begin gathering the 385,245 valid signatures that they need from registered voters to get their proposal on the Ballot.

Arizona Governor Will Allow Dispensaries Now that Lawsuit Was Dismissed

A lawsuit brought on by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to seek clarification on the Federal stance of allowing dispensaries in her state was dismissed by a federal judge earlier this month. Governor Brewer had put the dispensary provision of her states medical marijuana law on hold, and not allowed them to get licensed to operate to give the state time to sue for assurance that a state employee who may be filling out a dispensary applications in accordance with the law would not be criminally prosecuted for drug trafficking.
