If You Can Make it There, You Can Make it Anywhere
In one of the most conservative states in America, Utah, and one of the more conservative counties in that state, Utah County, cannabis advocates are surprised by a message sent to the grassroots, pro-cananbis organization, Legalize Utah. Leon Frazier, a conservative Libertarian and a strong candidate for a seat on the Utah County Commission stated,
“”I think people should have the right to smoke pot if they want, particularly medical marijuana. I think it would create freedom and a minor economic boom if people were suddenly allowed to cultivate and sell medical marijuana products”.
The surprising message has emboldened the group as Frazier joins other candidates who have spoken favorably for cannabis law reform like former American Fork Mayor Ted Barrett and incumbent Steven Davis also seeking a seat. Another political candidate, Joel Wright, in his campaign for Utah County Commissioner is the first Utah Country candidate to publicly admit his support for medical marijuana in Utah.
Frazier is running a popular campaign, based on less government intrusion on small businesses and lower property taxes. He wrote about the medical marijuana issue in his statement,
“It’s not my major issue, but I want to prepare myself on it and just about anything could be better that what currently is being enforced as law”.
Legalize Utah is documenting any and all support of cannabis law reform in the Conservative state. If they can change minds on prohibition there, it seems even more obtainable for us to change cannabis laws nationwide.

Thanks so much for covering our efforts to legalize medical marijuana in Utah – appreciate it!
Nice to see this Karri although I don’t hold out much hope for Utah, sorry.
Utah is 60% mormon, unfortunately the members do whatever the church tells them. If you’d ever like a tour of downtown Utah where their temple is you’re welcome at our home anytime Karri. I drive by there every week on the way to getting my allergy shot. It’s a sober reminder of what we’re up against.
I hate Utah.
