Upbeat Marc Emery on way to jail | Vancouver, Canada | Straight.com.

Marc Emery claims Canadian officials conspired to extradite him to the U.S.

Canada’s Prince of Pot finds great irony in his pending extradition south of the border.

“They’re going to legalize marijuana in California, in Nevada, and much of the United States very soon,” Marc Emery noted in a phone interview with the Georgia Straight. “It’s quite possible I’ll be incarcerated even though I’m one of the people who provided the wherewithal for all these legalization movements to happen. I’ll be in jail being persecuted while they’re out, Americans are actually out, celebrating.”

Emery is currently on bail from the North Fraser Pretrial Centre. He faces a five-year sentence in a U.S. prison for selling marijuana seeds from his Vancouver shop.

An unbelievable journey for activist Marc Emery. It is a scary world where one country can reach over the border of another country and exert their laws and will on non-citizens. Can you imagine a country that has strict gun control laws, or even abortion or divorce laws that would try to impose that on an American Citizen? Marc Emery isn’t an enemy of the state, he should not become a political prisoner for cannabis, especially now that the current dialogue in this country is opposed to many of the outdated cannabis laws. Remember, Mr. Emery never crossed the border into America, always paid taxes on his earnings from his business and was allowed to operate with impunity from his own Canadian government. The amount of money and energy the DEA has used to go after a foreigner who wasn’t even selling smokable ganja is inexcusable reefer madness.
